Happy new year!

Thanks!

The year 2004 has ended!

Ya!

On a tragic note!

R u referring to democratic waves in the offing?

No!

Then u must b referring to the latest amendment?

What?

R there new amendments made in the Constitution?

No!

Am not referring to the amendment in the Constitution. And by the way am not aware if there is anything in the offing.

Got it!

U r referring to the amendment in the Exit Control List (ECL).

No , my dear.

I thought u r referring to the much publicised reunion on new year in Middle East.

No!

Ok! Then u must be referring to the statement of spokesman of US State Department on the current situation of Pakistan.

No!

By the way it was not so bad . they intend to continue their support to the electoral process , currently scheduled to culminate in National Elections in 2007.

Then! U r referring to the World Bank declaration of insufficiency of Pakistan's power sector.

No!

Come on!

What is it then!

Ok!

I was referring to the Tsunami.

Ya!

It was really tragic!

No doubt!

Eleven countries in Asia hit and the death toll exceeds I00,000.

And the injured over and above 550,000.

True!

Not to mention the missing.

Right!

But am surprised?

About the Tsunami?

No!

About the response.

Meaning?

R u referring to the Big Master's response on the catastrophe?

No!

Am thinking in financial terms.

Really!

Meaning u r referring to the US aid of only $20 million to the victims.

No!

But read that UN humanitarian aid chief told reporters that the United States had been "stingy " in helping the victims.

True!

I also read that he said, "we were more generous when we were less rich...."

By the way I was not referring to that!

Then?

I said am surprised?

At India's response.

R u talking about CBMs or its response to foreign aid.?

None of the either!

Am surprised at the responses not only the Western stock markets but also in Asia.?

Meaning?

Look, Indonesian and India are hit by catastrophe but their stock markets are hitting record highs?

True!

On the basis of perceived good economic times.

True!

Is it not a sign of brutal disconnect between the wealthy rich and the poorest of poor who suffered the tragedy and had to bear the loss the of their loved ones.

That's right!

The Wall Street on Tuesday hit a three and a half year high.

Why not.?

Their Christmas shopping reflects high consumer confidence level.

I was surprised to see the caption at one of the leading daily.

What was it?

It explained all my queries arising out of the situation.

Will u share it with me?

Ok!

It said" dead fishermen do not move markets"
